For Students

Members of the Association of Pleasanton Teachers are among the finest educators in our country and we are very happy that you have chosen to join us. The Association of Pleasanton Teachers (APT) is here to help you at the local level in many ways. California Teachers Association (CTA) and National Educators Association (NEA) are your professional organizations at the state and national levels respectively.
APT is the union that represents Certificated Employees in the Pleasanton Unified School District. It exists primarily to protect and advance the professional and economic interests of its members. With approximately 800 members, APT is your advocate for providing a free, quality public education to all children.
With students at the heart of what we do, we seek to attract and retain the best teachers, create the best classroom working environment, and obtain the best supports by strengthening our collective bargaining agreement and offering competitive, professional salaries. Through collaborative conversations between its unit members and management, APT aims to work within a district that prioritizes its budget to invest in students and teachers.
APT, as a local association of CTA, ensures members a number of benefits:

Member Rights: as your bargaining representative, APT is your advocate when negotiating contracts and providing resources to defend your rights

Disability Insurance Information

Brand new hires and district transfers may be eligible to apply for CTA-endorsed Voluntary Disability and Life insurance without answering health questions within 270 days of starting work at the new school district

Disability insurance can help protect your paycheck. Benefits are paid directly to you if you're out of work due to an injury, illness (including mental health disorders and substance abuse), pregnancy or childbirth.
